Practice some different facial expressions in the mirror. Try some with your lips slightly parted, a flirty little smirk, practice smiling with your eyes etc. Of course I will be guiding you with facial expressions as well as poses on the day of your shoot, but a little practice of your facial expressions in the mirror always helps! Flip through a Victoria Secret catalog or look at their website for some other facial expressions that you can practice in the mirror before your scheduled shoot.
Get a good night’s sleep the night before your shoot!
Moisturize all of your skin on the day of your shoot. Moisturized skin looks beautiful in pictures. Dry skin does NOT photograph well. Make sure to moisturize your neck, bottoms of your feet, your tush, and shoulders – literally everywhere!
Get a manicure & and pedicure a day or two before your shoot. I suggest keeping the color of the polish you choose to be classic shades or natural shades.
Make sure to get your eyebrows waxed or to tweeze them and shape them yourself before your shoot. I would recommend doing this 2 or 3 days before your shoot so that it is no longer red and irritated.
Check to see if you have a bit of a “female mustache”, and if you do, either get it waxed when you get your eyebrows done or pluck it or shave it the morning of your shoot.
If you are planning a hair trim, root touch ups or highlights before your shoot, I would recommend doing that at least a week or more before your shoot, so it has time to fall naturally again.
I would recommend getting a fresh razor blade and shaving your legs, underarms and bikini area on the morning of your shoot or a few hours before your shoot so it’s a nice clean shave.
If you get your bikini area or other areas waxed, try to plan that accordingly with your shoot so your bikini line is free from hair growth.
I don’t recommend getting a fake tan immediately before your shoot. From my experience, a person’s natural skin tone looks more beautiful and natural in pictures. But, if you must get a spray tan before your shoot, I would definitely suggest going to a professional tanning salon (Darque Tan, Palm Beach Tan) and getting a spray tan instead of doing it yourself so that it is an even natural color and so you don’t end up with orange hands, elbows and feet.
Please be on time for your shoot, but please do not show up more than 10 minutes before your shoot as the previous client may still be here or I may be cleaning up and prepping for your shoot.
Show up to have fun at your shoot!! It’s a fun experience and I promise your nerves will vanish shortly after we start shooting.
